First Perol Festival and the Selective World Championship of Marinera in the Netherlands
On 17 and 18 October, the cities of Bussum and Naarden hosted, respectively, the Perol Festival and the Selective World Championship of Marinera. These events were held for the first time in the Netherlands and reproduce the traditional celebrations that take place in Trujillo, Peru. They were organized by the Club Libertad through its subsidiary in Amsterdam, which opened this year.
The Perol Festival took place on October 17 at the Hotel NH Bussum Jan Tabak with the participation of around 150 guests dressed in white as is traditional. The event featured an exhibition of various champions of the art. Moreover, on this occasion Congresswoman Martha Chavez, European Subsidiaries Director Mrs. Begonia Requejo, Director of the magazine "Marinera Mundo" Mrs. White Burmester and the Representative of the Club Libertad Trujillo Mr. Juan Carlos Burmester crowned the chosen "queens" of the Amsterdam branch of the Club, ladies Alessia and Silvia Ragonese Mayuri, who will be responsible for exercising the representation of that subsidiary in various events related to mentioned dance in this country.
On October 18 in a sports hall in the city of Naarden the Ambassador of Peru in the Netherlands, Carlos Herrera, opened the first Selective World Championship of Marinera. The event was attended by around 400 guests from various countries in Europe and 49 couples participated. The aim of this competition was to elect the representatives of the Amsterdam subsidiary for the final of the National Championship of Marinera to be held in Trujillo next year. The awards were presented by the General Consul of Peru in Amsterdam, the Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Peru and the sponsors of the event.
